Head Sushi Chef Hayashi Tomoyuki
Tomoyuki was born in Shizuoka, Japan, located on central Honshu’s Pacific coast home to Mt. Fuji, Japan’s highest peak. He always had a desire to become a craftsman. His career path was between a carpenter and a cook, he chose to become a sushi chef. He got involved in the sushi industry right after graduating university.
The owner of the first sushi place he worked at in Japan, introduced him to a restaurant in NY. Since then, he experienced 7 different Japanese restaurants in NY. One of them being Yuzu, his own sushi place which he opened in 2015, TAO (executive sushi chef) and he opened Azabu NY when it was Greenwich Grill/Sushi Azabu.
